I had the pleasure of working with Boise Contemporary Theater (BCT) starting in 2020. It was a bit of a rough start considering the world was consumed with Covid-19 and it’s hard to keep a theater’s doors open when you can’t actually let anyone in. The 21|22 Season was barely able to get off the ground with performances being canceled. The show art I created for that season utilized icons as a background texture for the very simplified images that represented each show. Unfortunately only half the season was able to go on and the other shows were moved into the next season.
Aptly titled “A Season of Hope”, the 22|23 season’s show art needed to feel happy and hopeful. Even though some of the shows carried heavy topics, I wanted to still evoke a sense of brightness throughout the artwork. Utilizing a limited color palette and duotone images, I created show art that felt exciting and intriguing. The designs were used for outdoor banners, in social ads, print, and on the website.
Above are examples of the Show art designs, Lamp Post Banners, Website design & development, Gala invite for their virtual gala, and the 21|22 Season Announcement.
